The organizers in Batumi (Georgia) have published the final standings of the 1st European Youth Chess Championship Under-8. Official website: www.eurobatumi2007.ge. The Turkish Chess Federation provided transmission of live games. The Medal winners are:

Girls: 1. Aidan Hajatova AZE 8/9; 2. Narmin Mammadova AZE 7; 3. Tinatini Lagadze GEO 6.5.

The 1st International Chess Festival South Bohemia Open 2007 which took place 13th - 20th October in Cesky Krumlov (one of the nicest towns in the Czech Republic) was finished on Saturday. Complete results and games should be found at www.czechtour.net.

On October 12th, the Turkish Chess Federation published an Open Letter, wherein Mr. Ali Nihat Yazici, President of the Turkish Chess Federation, declared that his federation has sued the ECU in the judicial court in Lausanne on 3rd of October.

According to Mr. Horst Metzing, Secretary-General of the ECU, the ECU office in Berlin has not received any official letter in this matter so far.

1st European U8 Championship

23 girls and 38 boys under eight years from Azerbaijan, Belgium, Estonia, Georgia, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine are participating in the first European U8 championship in Batumi (October 12-23). This event is organized by the Government of Georgia, Georgian Chess club "Kazus", Georgian chess federation and Adjarian chess federation with support of the Turkish chess federation.
