The
Online Registration was started on 20 May 2008. Registration will close on 12 July 2008.
Even before the official opening of the online registration as many as 82 nations had pre-registered for the world's largest chess event.

During the European Individual Chess Championships 2008 in Plovdiv, ECU Board Member Vladimir Sakotic had a meeting with representatives of ACP on behalf of the organizers of the
EICC 2009 for men which will be held in Budva (Montenegro).
After review of already confirmed dates for some events it was agreed that exact dates of EICC 2009 men definitely will be March 5 (arrival day) to March 19, (departure day). According to Vladimir Sakotic, these dates are final.
Company Chess Championship in Hockenheim

It's the eighth time in Germany that National Company Chess Championships will be held, this time in October in Hockenheim, well-known because of its Formula 1 circuit. But also well-known for its Karpov Chess Academy, which in 2007 has organised the European Individual Senior Chess Championship.

Association of Chess Professionals (ACP) reports, that an ECU - ACP meeting took place during the European Individual Chess Championship in Plovdiv, on April 27th 2008. Both the ECU and the ACP were represented by 4 members of their boards:
ECU: Boris Kutin (President), Vladimir Sakotic, Werner Stubenvoll; Gerry Walsh.
ACP: Sergei Movsesian, Yannick Pelletier, Emil Sutovsky, Pavel Tregubov.
