Dear Friends,
Circular Letter No. 06/2003
The Turkish Chess Federation has announced the dates and details about the European Individual Women´s Championship which had to be postponed. Now it will be held in Istanbul-Silivri from 1 to 15 June 2003.
The European Individual Championship will start three days earlier in the same venue. Enclosed you will find all necessary information for both events.
Meanwhile the official invitations for the 3rd European Senior Championship are published (annex). This championship once more will be hosted by the Chess Committee of the Aosta Valley/Italy. We would like to emphasize that the organizer is in charge of one player per federation. Other players can participate on favourable terms.
All national federations are requested to inform the organizers of open tournaments that they can join the ECU Grand Prix. Tournament Director Agostino Scalfi has published all details concerning applications procedure on the ECU website www.eurochess.org.
The Swiss Chess Federation had sued ECU because of illegal change of the Statutes. The General Assembly last year in Bled/Slovenia had decided to amend the Statutes by adding an additional Vice President to the Board. Upon proposal of our Swiss lawyer, we have agreed that the validity of this decision needs another resolution of this year’s General Assembly in Plovdiv/Bulgaria.
Best regards,
Horst Metzing
Secretary General
