Dear Friends,
Circular Letter No. 3/2004
As FIDE has moved the dates for the World Championship we are now in a position to announce that the European Individual Championship 2004 will be organized by the Turkish Chess Federation in Antalya, Beldibi – Kemer from 8 May (arrival) to 25 May (departure). Details will be distributed next week.
This year the European Senior Championship will be hosted in Arvier, Aosta Valley (Italy) from 8 to 16 September. The Comité Valdôtain d’Echecs has published the invitation (annex).
The newly appointed ECU Youth Officer Goran Antunac has prepared a questionnaire which you will find annexed. For his work it is very important to know a lot about the organization of national and international youth events.
Due to server problems we were not able to receive any emails during the period of 12 to 16 March 2004. So, if you tried to send us emails within these days, please, send them once again.
There is the idea to develop some activities in the field of fair play. We therefore would appreciate any information about similar programmes or movements in the national federations. We will collect this material and will publish it in an appropriate way.
Attached you will find the updated Tournament Calendar (annex).
New email addresses:
Goran Antunac, ECU Youth Officer: goran@start.hr
Per Ofstad, ECU Senior Officer: per.ofstad@imt.nlh.no
Dirk De Ridder, ECU Tournament Director: DirkDeRidder@compuserve.com
Best regards,
Horst Metzing
Secretary General
