Circular Letter No. 3/2007
Dear Friends,
Just before the beginning of the European Individual Championships in Dresden with a record of participants we would like to announce some more European events.
Attached you will find the General Regulations of the European Team Championships (Men and Women) being held in Heraklion/Greece from 27 October (arrival) to 7 November 2007. Deadline for registration is 27 September 2007.
The European Club Cup (Men and Women) will be organized in Kemer-Antalya/Turkey from 2 to 10 October 2007. As we had informed you, the dates differ a little bit from the traditional weekend stipulation. The official invitation is attached. Please note that there is a discount of 5 % for payments by 4 June 2007.
The Serbian Chess Federation will host the European Youth Team Championship in Subotica from 7 to 14 July 2007. Immediately thereafter, the European Youth Rapid and Blitz Championship will take place in the same venue. Attached you will find both announcements.
As a part of the MonRoi International Women’s Grand Prix the Chess Festival "White Nights 2007" will be organized in St.-Petersburg/Russia from 15 to 24 June. Up to now, the tournaments in Gibraltar, Cannes and Zagreb have already been carried out and have been counted for this Grand Prix. The next tournaments will be the European Individual Championship in Dresden, the Open Liechtenstein, St. Petersburg and Philadelphia. Attached you will find the invitation to the "White Nights 2007".
In the frame of the 18th Czech Open in Pardubice the European Amateur Championship will be held. More detailed information will be found under www.czechopen.net.
The Austrian Chess Federation has announced the General Regulations of the 5th European Union Youth Championship (U10 – U14) being held in Mureck from 31 July to 9 August 2007. Please find more details attached.
This year’s European Rapid Championship will be organized by the Polish Chess Federation and the Warsaw Foundation for Chess Development in Warsaw on 15 and 16 December.
This 2007, the Braille Chess Association of the United Kingdom will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its foundation. As part of the celebrations, they will host the European Individual Chess Championship for blind and partially sighted players which is one of the major events in the International Braille Chess Association (IBCA) calendar. As ECU has to be prepared for any discussion on a national or international level about doping control procedures, we ask all federations to inform us whether in their countries doping controls for chess players are carried out according to the national law. We will publish the result of the survey in our next Circular Letter.
The next ECU Board meeting is scheduled in Dresden/Germany for 13 and 14 April 2007.
