Dear Friends,
Circular Letter No. 12/2006
The forthcoming European Individual Championship(s) 2007 in Dresden will be the start of the MonRoi European Grand Prix. This Grand Prix should finish by the end of 2007. The respective tournament rules were confirmed by this year’s ECU General Assembly in Torino (annex).
We kindly ask all interested federations to nominate open tournaments for this Grand Prix.
What is the advantage for the organizers being part of this Grand Prix?
- Substantial additional publicity including internet coverage
- Being able to demonstrate the newest chess technology
- Wireless transmission of a high number of game data to internet and tournament bulletin
There are no financial obligations for the organizer, the necessary devices for data transmission are provided by ECU free of charge. The only condition is that MonRoi devices have to be used for a substantial number of games.
In order to have a smooth implementation of the MonRoi system in the Grand Prix tournaments ECU is hosting a weekend seminar in Berlin for organizers being interested in the Grand Prix. ECU will provide full board and accommodation for one representative per tournament (for example for the tournament director or chief arbiter).
All applications for the Grand Prix and for the seminar have to be sent to the ECU office by 10 October 2006.
Further details including exact dates of the seminar will be announced just after this deadline.
Best regards,
Horst Metzing
Secretary General
